Detox Right!

You may be one of many who are think following a fad detox or cleanse is good for your health. If you have followed one or more cleanses or detoxes you may be surprised to know that there is no scientific evidence to support diet detoxes.

Your body is a complex and amazing system which has organs that allow your body to remove toxins.  Your gut, lungs, kidneys, and liver are amazing at doing this. Think about the last time you had a big night out with too much to drink. Without your kidneys and liver, you would probably be six feet under right now. Your body did this without the detox diet or supplements.

Detox supplements may not only set you back a lot of money but the supplement itself may have ingredients which may not do great things for your body. Some detoxes do not supply your body with adequate nutrition. A well-balanced diet is a key ingredient to a healthy body.

Instead of choosing a detox or cleanse try this challenge. It will help to improve the nutrition quality of what you are eating for a healthier lifestyle and resulting healthier body.

  1. Adding 2 serves of vegetables 2 times a day.

A serve can be half a cup of cooked vegetables or a full cup of salad vegetables, a medium sized tomato or half a medium potato or sweet potato.

  1. Remove a serve (or two) of the sometimes foods or drinks a day or in a week.

Sometimes foods include chocolates, pastries, alcohol, doughnuts, cakes, sweet biscuits, takeaway foods like pizza and chips.

 

Take home message: These two small changes can do great things for the health of your body. You do not need to go to extremes to look after your body, it is all about balance and moderation.
